I've tried books, therapy, and talking to friends. How is coaching different?
Books and friends can validate you or offer general frameworks; therapy is structured for clinical intervention. Coaching offers deeper accountability and a personalized structure to surface and remove your patterns/limiting beliefs in real time. Coaching is personalized and active, with unlimited follow-through support between sessions. Many clients come to coaching after those other routes gave them insight but not sustained change.
How long before I see a difference?
Most clients feel a shift in how they think and feel after the very first session. Living that shift out — actually being different, not just seeing things differently — takes a little longer. You're not just learning a new script; you're unlearning an old one.
That doesn't mean it has to be difficult. You have been loyal, consciously and unconsciously, to a way of perceiving and responding to your life and to your relationships. Change happens with consistent intention and attention to what you really want.
How will I know if I need a therapist or a coach?
Therapy looks back to understand, diagnose, and treat mental health challenges. Coaching looks forward to build a compelling future and enact change. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Coach, I hold both.
I understand the psychology of why we respond to ourselves and others the way we do. As your coach, our work is structured around forward motion using The WELL Method™. If deeper clinical support is what you actually need, I'll be honest and help you find the right resources.
